Accessing Your Promotions
- Log in to Shopify Admin
- Go to Apps β CartSprinkle
- You'll see the dashboard with all your promotions
Understanding Promotion Status
Each promotion has a status indicator:
π’ Active
- Promotion is live on your storefront
- Customers can receive this gift
- Today's date is between start and end dates
- Toggle is ON
π΄ Inactive
- Promotion is paused
- Not visible to customers
- Either manually deactivated OR outside date range
π‘ Scheduled
- Start date is in the future
- Will automatically activate when start date arrives
- Customers cannot see it yet
βΈοΈ Ended
- End date has passed
- No longer active
- Can be edited and reactivated
Viewing Promotion Details
Click on any promotion in the list to view:
- π Title - Internal name
- π Gift Product - What customers receive
- π¬ Marketing Message - Customer-facing text
- β‘ Trigger Rule - Spend threshold or product trigger
- π Start & End Dates - Active period
- π Statistics (if available) - How many times gift was claimed
Editing a Promotion
What Can Be Edited
You can change:
- β Promotion title
- β Marketing message
- β Start and end dates
- β Gift product (even while active!)
- β Trigger rule (spend amount or trigger product)
How to Edit
- Find the promotion in your list
- Click the Edit button or click the promotion row
- Make your changes
- Click Save Changes
β‘ Instant Updates
Changes take effect immediately. Within 1-2 minutes, your storefront will reflect the updates.
Editing Active Promotions
You can edit promotions while they're active!
Common scenarios:
- β Change marketing message for clarity
- β Adjust spend threshold (raise or lower)
- β Extend end date to continue promotion
- β Switch gift product if original goes out of stock
β οΈ Active Edit Warning
Customers currently shopping will see changes within a few minutes. Test changes in incognito mode first!
Activating & Deactivating
Manual Activation
To turn a promotion ON:
- Find the promotion
- Click the toggle switch to ON position
- Status changes to Active (green)
- Promotion is now live
Manual Deactivation
To turn a promotion OFF:
- Find the active promotion
- Click the toggle switch to OFF position
- Status changes to Inactive (red)
- Promotion stops immediately
π‘ Quick Pause
Deactivating is perfect for temporarily pausing a promotion without deleting it. Toggle back ON anytime!
Automatic Activation/Deactivation
Promotions automatically:
- β Activate when start date/time arrives
- β Deactivate when end date/time passes
No action needed on your part!
Duplicating a Promotion
Want to create a similar promotion? Duplicate it!
How to Duplicate
- Find the promotion you want to copy
- Click the Duplicate button
- A copy is created with "(Copy)" added to the title
- Edit the copy to customize it
- Save and activate
What Gets Copied
- β Title (with "Copy" appended)
- β Gift product
- β Marketing message
- β Trigger rule (spend threshold or product trigger)
- β Dates (you'll need to set new dates)
- β Status (starts as Inactive)

Duplicate last month's successful promotion, update the dates, and activate for this month!
Deleting a Promotion
How to Delete
- Find the promotion
- Click the Delete button (trash icon)
- Confirm deletion in the popup
- Promotion is permanently removed
β οΈ Permanent Action
Deletion cannot be undone! If you might use the promotion again, consider deactivating instead of deleting.
What Happens When You Delete
- β Promotion immediately stops
- β Gift is removed from any active carts
- β Associated Shopify discount is deleted
- β Promotion data is permanently removed
When to Delete vs. Deactivate
Deactivate if:
- β You might use it again later
- β You want to keep the settings for reference
- β You're just pausing temporarily
Delete if:
- β Promotion was a one-time campaign
- β You're cleaning up old promotions
- β You definitely won't use it again
Extending a Promotion
Promotion working well? Extend it!
How to Extend
- Click Edit on the promotion
- Change the End Date to a later date
- Click Save Changes
- Promotion continues running past original end date

You can extend a promotion even after it has ended. Just update the dates and toggle it back ON!
Promotion Conflicts
Multiple Active Promotions
You can run multiple promotions at the same time!
Scenario: Customer meets criteria for 2 promotions
- β Customer receives both gifts
- β Both discounts apply
- β Cart shows both free products
β οΈ Shopify Limitation
Shopify allows only ONE automatic discount per order. CartSprinkle creates workarounds, but be aware of potential conflicts with other apps that also use automatic discounts.
Monitoring Performance
Basic Stats (Available in Dashboard)
For each promotion, you can see:
- π Times Claimed - How many times gift was added
- π Revenue Impact - Estimated additional revenue (Pro plan)
- π₯ Customers Reached - Unique customers who qualified (Pro plan)
Best Practices
1. Use Descriptive Titles
- β "Holiday 2024 - Free Tote Bag"
- β "Promo 1"
2. Set Clear End Dates
- β Specific date and time
- β "Ongoing" promotions (set far future date instead)
3. Test After Editing
- β Test in incognito after every edit
- β Assume changes work without testing
4. Monitor Inventory
- β Check gift product stock regularly
- β Let promotions run when gift is out of stock
5. Duplicate for Similar Campaigns
- β Duplicate successful promotions
- β Recreate from scratch every time

Can I edit a promotion that's already active?
Yes! Changes take effect within 1-2 minutes.
What happens to customers who already have the gift in their cart?
If you deactivate or delete a promotion, gifts are automatically removed from active carts.
Can I reactivate an ended promotion?
Yes! Edit the dates to include today, then toggle it ON.
How many promotions can I run at once?
